The horizontal pattern in this flooring features a wide grain, with clearly identifiable bamboo nodes. This carbonized flooring gets its warm color from a heating process that darkens the bamboo all the way through.

Here's the traditional bamboo look that so many people love, with visible bamboo nodes and the unmistakable hallmarks of eco-friendly bamboo flooring. Properly installed, our classic bamboo flooring can be used in almost any space. This solid tongue-and-groove floor is similar to oak flooring in performance, and is made of strips of bamboo bonded together in a distinctive pattern. Installation options include both glue-down and nail-down methods.

We have a 3, going on 4, year old son who just loves to play with his matchbox cars (among other things) and although he plays very rough on the bamboo with these diecast metal toys, we do not have a scratch on our flooring. This is an outstanding company with a first class product and fantastic customer service (among the very best I have dealt with). Kerrie was very knowledgeable, very patient through my many questions, and the responsiveness was terrific. The whole process of understanding their product through installation was absolutely smooth. Everything was as advertised and promised. We have the carbonized horizontal which has great character. As others have said, its tough not to go through the house to find other areas to cover.

While I am at it I wanted to give some additional information. We put the floor in yesterday. It looks absolutely beautiful and is actually above my expectations. Even my teenage boys were complimenting it (and who would have thought they would care). The material was easy to work with no flaws. The color and finish amongst the boxes was very good with a good amount of contrast and variety Before purchasing I was a little concerned it would be too uniform thus giving the overall floor a synthetic look. But no, it's absolutely perfect.

The product is everything, and more, that I had read about and in particular you had described for me. Also, most definitely I see your original point about the horizontal vs. the stranded. The horizontal is far more interesting looking.

I am looking forward to years of use and considering how things have gone so far I am confident they will be trouble free.
